Palakkad By-Election: Voters to Decide Tomorrow

Palakkad: The stage is set for the Palakkad Assembly by-election, with voters heading to the polls tomorrow. On the silent campaign day today, the focus of all three major candidates is to reach as many households as possible. Prominent leaders who campaigned in the constituency have returned after yesterday’s grand final rallies. Distribution of polling materials will also take place today at the Government Victoria College, which serves as the polling material distribution center.

After voting, the polling machines will be returned to the same center. The high-energy campaigns culminated with a show of strength during the final rallies, reflecting the enthusiasm seen throughout the campaign.

This by-election is crucial for all three political fronts. For the UDF, retaining the constituency, where Shafi Parambil enjoys significant popularity, without losing even an inch of their majority is paramount. The UDF campaigned as a united front, with Congress workers energized further by the surprise entry of Sandeep Warrier.

The LDF aims to reclaim the constituency, which has slipped from their grasp several times. With Congress defector P. Sarin as their candidate, the LDF has positioned themselves strongly, banking on support from farmers and other key demographics.

Meanwhile, for the BJP, which already holds power in the Palakkad Municipality, securing representation in the state assembly is a significant objective.
