Parassala Sharon murder case, court to deliver verdict today

Thiruvananthapuram: The court will pronounce its verdict in the Parassala Sharon murder case today. The case alleges that Sharon was murdered by her lover Greeshma by mixing poison in a decoction. Greeshma’s mother and uncle are accused in the conspiracy case. The Neyyattinkara Sessions Court will pronounce its verdict.

The case is that Greeshma mixed the decoction with herbicide in order to avoid Sharon and get married again. Sharon and Greeshma had been friends for years. When another marriage was planned, Greeshma did a juice challenge and first made Sharon drink juice mixed with paracetamol. Sharon was unwell, but survived. Later, she was called to her house in Paluk and given the decoction with herbicide.

Sharon drank the decoction on October 14, 2022. Sharon died 11 days after being admitted to the hospital after falling ill. Greeshma tried to escape while Sharon was in the hospital by misleading Sharon’s relatives, friends, and the police in a very clever way. Sharon did not say anything against Greeshma in her death statement given to the magistrate.

But the prosecution argued that Sharon had told her friend and father that Greeshma had cheated on her. The scientific evidence handed over by a forensic doctor to a special team appointed after Sharon’s death was crucial. When the police called her in and questioned her, Greeshma confessed to the crime. Greeshma’s mother Sindhu and Nirmala Kumaran Nair were also charged with destroying evidence. Greeshma attempted suicide in custody. Greeshma was released on bail after spending a year in jail.

The police filed the chargesheet on January 25, 2023. The chargesheet was filed after the High Court rejected the plea of the accused that the trial could not be held in Kerala. The trial, which began on October 15 last year, ended on the 3rd of this month. 95 witnesses were examined. Greeshma, who holds a postgraduate degree in English, is an accused in the case at the age of 22. The verdict is being delivered by Judge M M Basheer of the Neyyattinkara Additional Sessions Court. Special Public Prosecutor Vineeth Kumar appeared for the prosecution.
