Parked car catches fire, Causes accident

Alappuzha: A car parked near the road caught fire and met with an accident. The car of Ananthu Krishna, a native of Mundakkayam, was burnt. The incident happened early today. The young man had parkked the car on the roadside and went to his relative’s house. The vehicle caught fire in the morning.

Other passers-by informed the fire brigade about the fire. Then the fire brigade reached the spot and extinguished the fire. The front side of the car is completely burnt. The fire department said they are investigating the cause of the car fire.

Meanwhile, the car that Kuttanad was running caught fire and met with an accident. The accident took place on the Alappuzha-Changanassery road. The fire broke out when the vehicle was stopped and inspected after seeing smoke coming from the bonnet. A Maruti car owned by Susheela was gutted by fire in the 1st Ward Kesavasadan of Champakulam Grama Panchayat.

Sushila’s husband Ramesh was driving the vehicle. He escaped with minor injuries. The incident took place after three o’clock in the afternoon near the CPM Kuttanad area committee office in Mankombi. Ramesh Mankombi was filling fuel from the petrol pump and going to his establishment in Nedumudi when the car caught fire.

Fire force team arrived from Changanassery and extinguished the fire. The car was completely burnt. It is believed that a short circuit inside the car may have caused the fire. Due to the accident, the traffic on AC road was blocked for an hour.
