Tiruvambadi: The passenger grabbed the driver’s neck as the bus did not stop even after ringing the bell. Due to this, the driver lost control of the vehicle.The bus skidded five meters from the road. It was a disaster because it was a flat place.
KSRTC running on Tiruvampady-Kakkadampoil route. The incident took place at Koodaranji Mankaya on Wednesday around 2.30 pm in the bus. Prakashan (43) of Kunnumvazhapuram in Kakadampoi, who was beaten up, was admitted to Mukkam Social Health Center.
In connection with the incident, the Tiruvambadi police have registered a case against Mankayam Uzhunnalil Abrahami (70). He is in hiding. The driver said that the bus passenger rang the bell after the stop and could not stop due to the narrow bend and tippers coming in the opposite direction.
A major accident was avoided only by the timely intervention of the driver when the attack occurred. While on patrol, the police happened to reach there immediately, but the assailant escaped. The incident took place in a bus at Tiruvambadi Operating Center.
