The accused in the Periya double murder case, A Subish (the 8th accused) and Surendran (the 15th accused), have applied for parole from Kannur Central Jail. This move comes just one and a half months after their conviction. Jail authorities are awaiting a police report before proceeding.
There are rising allegations that the intervention of senior CPM leaders may be behind the accused’s parole request. Meanwhile, reports suggest that the police are delaying the submission of the parole application report. The Special Branch’s assessment indicates that granting parole could lead to law and order issues, prompting the Bekal police to hold back the report.
