Thiruvananthapuram: Electricity consumption in the state is at an all-time record. With this, KSEB has again asked the government to cut power. Unannounced load shedding has to be done at many places due to overload. So far more than 700 transformers have failed.

KSEB may hold a high-level meeting today to discuss the situation. Meanwhile, electricity consumption in the state reached an all-time record. 11.31 crore units were used yesterday. Peak time demand for electricity also hit a record. The peak demand is 5646 MW.

113 million MW was used yesterday alone. Power Minister K Krishnankutty said that if it is not controlled, it will lead to big problems. Unannounced power cuts are due to excessive load during peak hours. The minister said that there is no point in threatening the employees.
