New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi Wayanad MP. He will resign his post and continue in Rae Bareli. Priyanka Gandhi will contest from Wayanad instead. The decision was taken by the party leadership meeting held at the residence of Congress president Mallikarjur Kharge on Monday evening.
Rahul Gandhi won by a majority of 3,64,422 votes in Wayanad and 3,90,030 votes in Rae Bareli. Meanwhile, KPCC president K. Sudhakaran had hinted that Rahul Gandhi would leave the constituency. Rahul Gandhi’s response was that he will take a decision that will bring happiness to the people of both the constituencies.
If Rahul vacated Wayanad, there was a demand for Priyanka Gandhi to contest there. The names of Congress leaders including K. Muralidharan were also mentioned.
