Death on Train; Passenger’s Death Caused by Improper Chaining Not Berth Malfunction, Railways Clarifies

New Delhi: Following the news of the death of a young man due to the collapse of a berth during a train journey, the Railways has come up with an explanation. The railway explained that the accident did not occur because the berth broke, but when the passenger in the middle berth locked the berth, the accident occurred because the chain was not put on properly.

The railway’s explanatory note also states that the propaganda that the berth has collapsed is false. As soon as the accident occurred, the train was stopped at Ramagundam and an ambulance was brought to the injured person to the hospital and medical assistance was provided. All kinds of medical assistance was provided by the Railways.

Malappuram Marancheri Vadamuk Ali Khan died while undergoing treatment after falling from a berth during a train journey. Ali Khan, who was lying in the lower berth at Warangal near Telangana, fell on top of the middle berth during the journey to Delhi. In the accident, three bones in Ali Khan’s neck were broken and a nerve was damaged.

The seat of the accident train was inspected in detail by the railway authorities at Nizamuddin station. The berth and seat were found to be fine. Therefore, the Railways has also asked in the explanatory note not to spread the false information that the passenger died due to a broken berth.
