Pulikali (Pulikkali) of tigers today in Thrissur. Pulikali will be staged this evening to mark the conclusion of the Onam celebrations. More than 350 tigers are coming down in the Swaraj round today after ringing the bell and stepping to the beat. The singing group will be the first to enter the Swaraj round. Tigers descend in groups of seven.
The tigers will leave the fold and reach the city around 3 pm. The flag off will be at 5 pm when Patturaikkal land will be entered in Naikkanal. Police have beefed up security in Thrissur as part of the pilikali. Vehicles will not be allowed into Swaraj Round today.
Preparations will start in the morning. There will be 35 to 51 pulis in each group. An eight-foot tall trophy and Rs 62,500 await the first place winners.
