An independent MLA will be disqualified if he joins any party. Keeping this in mind, the MLA is considering resigning from his post.
Anwar arrived in Thiruvananthapuram after meeting Mamata Banerjee. It is reported that Mamata has promised to protect him if he fails to contest again from Nilambur after resigning. He may even be considered for the Rajya Sabha seat that will fall vacant after 4 months. TMC has given Anwar the responsibility of four South Indian states. Anwar’s entry into the UDF, which he had left after a dispute with the LDF camp, did not happen as he had hoped. This led to Anwar’s decision to seek political asylum in Trinamool.
