Thiruvananthapuram: Rain is likely in various districts of the state over the next four days. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), a yellow alert has been issued for three districts— Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Pathanamthitta—on January 31.
The forecast predicts isolated heavy rainfall, which refers to precipitation ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours. Light rain is also expected in four districts— Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Idukki —tomorrow. On January 30 and February 1, rain is likely in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, and Palakkad. On January 31, rain is expected in all districts except Kannur and Kasaragod, with a yellow alert issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Pathanamthitta.
Meanwhile, Kerala is expected to experience high daytime temperatures in the coming days. The IMD reports that temperatures in isolated areas may rise 2°C to 4°C above normal today and tomorrow (January 28 and 29). This is likely to create a warm and uncomfortable climate due to higher temperatures and humidity.
