Palakkad: Chenthamara, who committed the double murder of Nenmara and went on the run, has been arrested. The police caught him while he was walking home from Pothundi Hill to eat, said the DySP.
It is reported that the man, who had been absconding since the murder, was arrested two days later when he could not bear the hunger and went down the hill. The accused was taken to the Nenmara police station.
He had come to the house to eat, thinking that the police had ended the search for him in Pothundi Hill, where he had been hiding. After the arrest of the accused, the locals, enraged by the murder, stormed the Nenmara police station and tried to attack the accused, which the police had great difficulty in preventing.
Hundreds of locals reached the Nenmara station after learning about the arrest of the accused. Following the tension, the police used lathi-charge to try to remove the locals from the station premises.
