Rain to continue in kerala today, yellow alert issued for seven districts

The Central Meteorological Department has issued a warning that there is a possibility of rain in various districts of the state today. As part of this, a yellow alert has been declared for seven districts. The districts under yellow alert are Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod. Isolated heavy rain is forecasted.

Heavy rain refers to receiving between 64.5 millimeters to 115.5 millimeters of rain within 24 hours. A red alert is in effect in all coastal districts of Kerala, as announced by the National Institute of Oceanography. There is also a possibility of strong waves and rough sea conditions along Kerala’s coast. The Central Meteorological Department and the National Institute of Oceanography have warned of wave heights reaching between 1.0 to 2.0 meters and the possibility of rough seas until 5:30 PM today.

The warning indicates that there is a risk of waterlogging and coastal erosion in low-lying areas, particularly in coastal regions. The Central Meteorological Department has advised against fishing along the Kerala-Lakshadweep-Karnataka coasts today. The warning states that there is a likelihood of strong winds ranging from 35 to 45 kilometers per hour, with some instances possibly reaching 55 kilometers per hour, accompanied by adverse weather conditions.
