Rape case: Supreme Court to consider Siddique’s anticipatory bail plea today

The Supreme Court will consider actor Siddique’s anticipatory bail plea today in a rape case registered based on an actress’s complaint. Siddique’s lawyers will inform the court that the police are raising allegations not mentioned in the complaint.

Siddique has submitted an affidavit in the Supreme Court with serious allegations against the investigating officer, accusing him of fabricating new stories and crossing the boundaries of justice and impartiality.

Meanwhile, the government will take a stance in court that granting bail to Siddique could affect the investigation. The government will also request that Siddique, who has not cooperated with the investigation, be taken into custody for questioning.

Previously, Siddique’s plea for more time to submit the affidavit was accepted by the court, granting him two weeks. A bench comprising Justices Bela M. Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma will hear the petition.
