Ration distribution in the state will be halted from today. More than 14,000 ration traders are on indefinite strike from today. The ration trader organizations have said that they will not withdraw from the strike without revising the wage package. With the Food Minister and the Finance Minister giving up, the traders have decided to call off the strike if the Chief Minister intervenes and gives assurances.
Traders have also informed that even if doorstep distributors deliver food grains to shops, they will not accept the grains. The government has warned that if food grains are denied to beneficiaries, they will have to resort to the process of cancelling their licenses.
The Food Minister has informed the traders that the discussions are not over and that salary revisions may be made as the financial situation improves. The Food Minister said that the traders’ decision is causing hardship to the common people. Minister GR Anil clarified that there will be no situation where any deserving person will not get ration.
