Thiruvananthapuram: Electricity bills have been issued in Malayalam in the state. There was a demand in the Regulatory Commission Adalat that the bill should be made in Malayalam. The move follows complaints that bills in English are difficult to read. Meter reading will be provided in Malayalam or English as per customer’s requirement in the machine itself.
The electricity bill will be sent to the mobile phones of the customers through SMS and e-mail. It can also be downloaded from the website www.kseb.in. What is energy charge, duty charge and meter rent and how it is calculated is also given in Malayalam on the website. Meanwhile, KSEB is actively considering charging monthly bills instead of bi-monthly bills. The introduction of monthly billing instead of bi-monthly billing has been a long-standing demand of consumers.
After the consumption exceeds 200 units, a higher tariff of Rs 8.20 paise will be charged for each subsequent unit. Many have to pay a comparatively high amount for two months bill. If it is done monthly, the advantage is that you can avoid high tariff and excessive bill. No final decision has been made in this regard.
