Thiruvananthapuram: As part of the rehabilitation project, the state government has said that each house will be constructed at a cost of Rs 20 lakh in a specific township in Wayanad. Earlier, the construction cost per house was estimated at Rs 25 lakh. This has now changed. A decision was taken in this regard in today’s cabinet meeting. As part of the project, it is also proposed to prepare a 2B list. This is a special list of those who need to be relocated. The state government has decided to consider those living in unsafe areas and provide them with houses.
Meanwhile, Congress leader and Kalpetta MLA T Siddique came forward with the allegation that the amount set by the government was too high. Asked where the figure for this money came from, he said that a house can be built for 15 lakhs. The government initially set a figure of 30 lakhs for house construction. Later, it was increased to 25 lakhs, and now it is being reduced to 20 lakhs. It is being reduced every time by lakhs. The figures are not satisfactory. Siddique also said that the government should clarify its interest in this money.
