RLV Ramakrishnan performed dance at Kalamandalam. The students’ union of Kalamandalam prepared the stage for the dance performance at Koothambalam.
Satyabhama made many insulting remarks, such as Mohiniyattam should be performed by Mohini, not Mohan, black people should not participate in dance competitions. This performance in Koothambalam is also a protest against this. Many people came to Koothambalam to see RLV Ramakrishna’s Mohiniyattam. Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, teachers, students etc. were present in the audience.
RLV Ramakrishnan, when invited to perform dance at Kalamandal, said that his biggest dream and desire was to get a chance to perform dance in Koothambalam. But there was also a sense in his words that a controversy was needed to get such an opportunity.
