Runway Renovation: Flight Services at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport to Be Rescheduled

Thiruvananthapuram: As part of the runway renovation, flight services at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport will be rescheduled. The renovation project, including the resurfacing of the runway, will begin on the 14th, and the runway will be closed from 9 AM to 6 PM. During this period, flight services will be rescheduled accordingly.

Airlines will inform passengers of the new timings. The last service of the day will be at 8:50 AM. The runway renovation is expected to continue until March 29, and the schedule will remain unchanged until then. The 3,374-meter-long and 60-meter-wide runway was last renovated in 2017. The decision now is to completely replace the surface of the existing runway and ensure proper friction according to international standards.

In addition, the current airfield ground lighting system will be upgraded to LED, and new stop-bar lights will be installed. After a year of preparation, the runway renovation is set to begin. The rescheduling of services aims to minimize inconvenience to passengers. A total of 96 services will operate daily during this period. Furthermore, additional international services are planned in the summer schedule starting in April.
