Boby Chemmanur Files Bail Plea in High Court; Plea Likely to Be Heard Today

Businessman Boby Chemmanur, who is in judicial custody following actress Honey Rose’s complaint of sexual assault, has filed a bail application in the High Court. This comes after the Magistrate Court rejected his bail plea and remanded him for 14 days. The High Court is expected to consider the petition today. Advocate Raman Pillai will represent Boby Chemmanur in the case.

The Ernakulam Central Police had registered a non-bailable case against Boby Chemmanur based on the actress’s complaint, following which he was produced before the Magistrate and remanded.

Boby Chemmanur has claimed that the complainant is using media and social platforms to gain publicity. He stated that his phone has been handed over to the police and assured cooperation with the investigation. Additionally, the delay in filing the complaint will be brought to the High Court’s attention. Based on legal advice that filing a bail plea in the Sessions Court might cause delays, Boby Chemmanur opted to directly approach the High Court.

Meanwhile, the police are preparing to file a custody application to oppose Boby Chemmanur’s bail plea. If the plea is considered, the police are likely to demand immediate custody of Boby.

Separately, the police are investigating those involved in obstructing their vehicle at Ernakulam General Hospital. Protesters had blocked the vehicle carrying Boby Chemmanur to Kakkanad Jail after his medical examination. Dramatic scenes unfolded in front of the hospital during the protest. Following the incident, the ACP directed the Principal SI to submit a detailed report. Based on the report, further steps, including registering cases, will be taken.
