Sabarimala to Implement Virtual Queue Only, Ensuring Darshan for All Devotees, Says TDB President PS Prashanth

Pathanamthitta: Sabarimala to Implement Virtual Queue Only, Ensuring Darshan for All Devotees, Says TDB President PS Prashanth. Devotees arriving at Sabarimala for darshan, with the customary offerings and fast, will not face any restrictions in their worship, as the Virtual Queue system will be the sole method for managing crowds this season, according to Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) President PS Prashanth. Speaking to the media, Prashanth emphasized that the decision was made with the safety of both devotees and the temple in mind. He added that the board will consult with the government to finalize appropriate measures.

The Virtual Queue will serve as an official record for identifying devotees arriving at Sabarimala. Unlike spot booking, which is only an entry pass, the Virtual Queue offers better control over the flow of visitors. In 2023, over three lakh people used the spot booking system, and this number is expected to increase to four lakh in 2023-24. However, the board is concerned about the rising dependence on spot booking and believes that Virtual Queue will ensure better security and management.

“There are three main routes through which devotees reach the temple, and it’s crucial to have an official record for identifying people in case any mishap occurs,” Prashanth said. “From Pamba to Sannidhanam, there are numerous dangerous areas where accidents can happen. We need to have accurate records to ensure safety.”

The board believes that implementing the Virtual Queue will allow authorities to estimate the number of devotees and make necessary arrangements accordingly. This decision is driven by a need for authenticity and accountability.

After reviewing the Sabarimala preparations, Prashanth shared that 90% of the arrangements have been completed. He reassured that the Virtual Queue decision is a well-intentioned move by both the government and the Devaswom Board, and further consultations will be held to make necessary adjustments as needed.
