In Kasargod, Sub-Inspector (SI) P Anoop has been suspended following the suicide of an auto driver. The suspension came after a video surfaced showing SI Anoop behaving inappropriately with another auto driver. The action was taken soon after the incident.
The incident occurred when the police seized the auto of Abdul Sattar, an auto driver from Kudroli, Pandeshwar, Mangaluru, Karnataka, for alleged traffic violations. Despite repeated requests, the vehicle was not returned, causing Sattar distress. He later posted a video on Facebook expressing his despair before taking his own life.
The police had seized the auto, accusing Sattar of blocking the road at the Nellikkunnu Beach Road Junction in Kasargod. The vehicle’s keys were confiscated, and the auto was taken to the station. Five days later, when the vehicle was still not returned, Sattar tragically ended his life.
