Search Operations Continue for Third Day;Navy’s Expert Divers Take Charge of Search Operation for Missing Person, Scuba Team Assists

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A search led by Navy divers will begin for Joy, who went missing while cleaning the Amayinchan canal. The scuba team along with the Navy team will go on a search. Today’s mission will begin after checking with sonar. Yesterday, NDRF and Fire Force conducted a joint inspection but to no avail.

It has been three days since Joy, a cleaner, fell into Amayihanchan creek in Thiruvananthapuram. The rescue mission was temporarily called off yesterday. The scuba team dived into the tunnel that passes under the railway track but could not find the target. Efforts to remove the waste by pouring water with great force also failed. The scuba team called off today’s search at 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, a team comprising Navy divers has reached Thiruvananthapuram. There are five people in the group. The inspection of the Navy team will begin today. It has been decided to conduct the current inspection independently. The Navy has informed that the media or other officials should not come. The decision was made in a discussion with the Collector.

Only one or two officers will accompany the Navy team for the briefing. Mayor Arya Rajendran informed that pumping of water has been stopped for the time being due to construction of the dam. Mayor said that further action will be taken in this regard after the Navy’s decision.
