Shahbaz Murder Case: Police Take Another Student into Custody

A tenth-grade student has been taken into custody in connection with the Shahbaz murder case in Thamarassery. With this, the total number of accused has risen to six. The investigation team stated that they are probing whether more individuals were involved in the murder. Additional CCTV footage and digital evidence are being collected as part of the inquiry.

The incident occurred on February 28 when a clash broke out among students, leading to Shahbaz, a tenth-grade student, being admitted to the medical college. In the early hours of March 1, his death was confirmed. The preliminary post-mortem report indicated that Shahbaz suffered severe head injuries during the altercation. Doctors stated that the impact had caused significant brain damage.

Earlier reports suggested that Shahbaz was assaulted with a weapon resembling a nunchaku. Following the conflict, he did not appear to have any external injuries. After returning home, he experienced discomfort but attributed it to a severe headache and chose to rest. Later, he started vomiting and lost consciousness, prompting his family to rush him to the hospital. He remained in a coma and was kept alive with ventilator support until his death was confirmed in the early hours of March 1.
