Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala High Court has admitted the appeal filed by the prime accused, Greeshma, in the Parassala Sharon murder case, seeking to overturn her death sentence. The division bench has issued notices to the opposing parties. Greeshma’s appeal challenges the death sentence awarded by the Neyyattinkara Additional Sessions Court after the trial. She is currently lodged in Attakulangara Jail, Thiruvananthapuram.
Meanwhile, the High Court upheld the bail granted by the trial court to Greeshma’s uncle, the second accused, who was sentenced to three years in prison. Greeshma was sentenced to death on January 20 after being found guilty in Sharon’s murder case. The Neyyattinkara Additional Sessions Court noted in its judgment that the accused had no idea she was incriminating herself until she was caught.
The court also described the crime as a well-planned and cold-blooded murder, stating that there was no provocation behind it. Even on his deathbed, Sharon trusted Greeshma, but she betrayed that trust. Sharon suffered an agonizing death after being unable to consume even a drop of water for 11 days, as his internal organs deteriorated. The court emphasized that Greeshma’s age was no excuse for leniency and ruled that she did not deserve any mercy, leading to the pronouncement of the death sentence.
