Siddharth’s death, inquiry handed over to CBI, order issued

Thiruvananthapuram: The investigation into the death of JS Siddharth, a student of Pookode Veterinary College, has been handed over to the CBI. The government issued an order in this regard. The action is as per the request of the family. Siddharth’s father and relatives reached the office today and met the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister assured that the CBI will conduct a probe into Siddharth’s death.

Student organizations including ABVP were on strike demanding justice for Siddharth. There was criticism against the government including in the LDF Front meeting yesterday. The assessment that there may be a setback even in the elections has prompted the government to hand over the case to the CBI. The CBI has brought the family’s struggle to get justice for Siddharth due to the negligence of the police.

The brutality that Siddharth had to face was narrated to the Chief Minister. He openly said that he was killed, not dead. Jayaprakash stated that when the CBI asked for an investigation, they did not say let’s see, they said for sure. Jayaprakash had also stated that the Chief Minister’s reply was that if the CBI wanted to investigate, it would do the same.

At the same time, on the death of Siddharth, the hunger strike in front of the secretariat of the Congress organizations ended. The strike was called off in the context of the announcement of a CBI investigation. State leaders of Youth Congress, Mahila Congress and KSU were on fast.
