State Police Chief Hands Over Mami’s Disappearance Case to Crime Branch for Investigation

Thiruvananthapuram: The state government did not hand over the disappearance case of Kozhikode real estate dealer Mami alias Muhammad Attur to the CBI. The state police chief ordered the investigation to be left to the crime branch. The crime branch has instructed the ADGP to form a special investigation team and investigate the case. Although the family and the police team that investigated the case recommended that the case be handed over to the CBI, the DGP took the stand that the crime branch should be investigated.

The special investigation team had submitted a report to the DGP that the Mami disappearance case should be handed over to the CBI. The family accused the police of being complacent from the beginning and botching the case. PV Anwar MLA had also made a serious allegation of linking ADGP MR Ajith Kumar in the disappearance. In this situation, the investigation was left to the crime branch. Malappuram SP Sasidharan responded that the report was given to the DGP as per the request of the family to transfer the case to the CBI.
