Summer rains likely to continue in coming days; Alert issued for all districts

The Meteorological Department has warned that summer rains are likely to continue in the coming days, with a high possibility of thunderstorms. Rainfall is expected mainly in the afternoon. A special alert has been issued for all districts, urging people to remain cautious.

Today, many parts of the state may experience summer rains accompanied by thunderstorms. Initially, southern districts are likely to receive rainfall, followed by northern districts.

Meanwhile, with rising temperatures, the UV index is also increasing, requiring extra caution. Yesterday, Idukki recorded the highest UV index so far, reaching 12. Prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays can lead to sunstroke, skin diseases, eye problems, and other health issues.

The public is advised to take necessary precautions. The highest UV index is recorded between 10 AM and 3 PM, so direct exposure to sunlight during these hours should be minimized
