Thiruvananthapuram: Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital has given an explanation about the incident where a glove was sewn to the body during a shoulder surgery. The hospital authorities said that it was not a mistake but the glove drain system to drain the pus and blood. The hospital authorities also stated that the patient was instructed to shake it off.
Shinu, a native of Nedumangad, came to Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital for surgery on Saturday to remove a tumor from his back. Later returned from here. Even after two days, the pain and swelling did not go away, so his wife untied the knot and looked. The complaint also states that the glove was also stitched in the stitched area.
His wife Sajina said that Shinu sought treatment at the hospital after developing a pus-filled abscess on his back. First the medicine was given for five days. Then the doctor asked him to come ready for surgery on Saturday morning.
He completed the surgery at 12 noon and returned home. But when he couldn’t sleep because of the pain, the wound was untied and checked. Sajina said that a large part of the glove was found stitched on the body.
