Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s Supreme Court ordered a CBI probe into the death. The court’s decision comes as it considers a petition filed by Riya Chakraborty, the accused in the case. Sushant was found hanging at her Mumbai residence on June 14. But fans and friends were on the scene from the beginning, blaming the mystery on the death. One month after the death, the actor’s family approached the police with a complaint.

Sushanth’s girlfriend Riya ChakrabortyThe family’s complaint was put on hold. Riya’s family has accused her of betrayal of trust and money laundering and has demanded that she be charged with inciting suicide. The family had lodged the complaint in Sushant’s hometown of Bihar. However, Riya approached the Supreme Court seeking transfer of the case from Bihar to Mumbai. After hearing the plea, the court directed that the probe be left to the CBI.

Serious allegations were leveled against the Mumbai police, which is currently investigating the case. It was alleged that they were taking a stand in defense of many high-ranking officials. Their non-cooperation with the police team from Bihar for the investigation also strengthened the allegations and suspicions. This was followed by a strong demand that the case is referred to the CBI. A global campaign was also launched to raise the issue under the leadership of Sushant’s family and friends.
