The Centre has appointed a committee to investigate the death of Jolly Madhu

The Central Government has appointed a committee to investigate the death of Jolly Madhu, an employee of the Coir Board, a central government institution. The inquiry will be led by a Joint Secretary-level official, and a special investigation will also be conducted into the financial transactions within the Coir Board.

On February 10, Jolly Madhu, who had earlier raised a workplace harassment complaint, passed away due to cerebral hemorrhage.

Jolly Madhu, a Section Officer at the Coir Board’s Kochi office, had accused senior officials, including the Chairman, of mental harassment. She had been an employee of the Coir Board for nearly 30 years and was also a cancer survivor. Although she had overcome cancer, her family alleged that she could not bear the mental harassment from her superiors at the workplace, which ultimately led to her death.
