Thrissur: The Enforcement Directorate has said that the CPIM account information was hidden in the Karuvannur bank fraud case. The information was conveyed to the Election Commission and the Finance Ministry. Five accounts were operated in violation of the Cooperative Act. The letter has asked the commission to check whether the CPIM guidelines were followed in cash transactions.
In a letter forwarded to the Election Commission, ED said that the details of 25 accounts of the party in various cooperative banks in Thrissur district were not disclosed in the CPM’s annual audit statement. Alleged. In a letter sent to the Election Commission on January 16, the ED has explained about the five secret accounts in the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank.
ED alleged that these accounts were started illegally. In order to open accounts as per the rules and regulations of the Kerala Co-operative Society, membership in the society is required. But ED found that CPM has not taken membership in Karuvannur society.
According to the ED, the party has 25 accounts in various cooperative banks in the name of 17 area committees in Thrissur district alone. But the information related to these accounts was not shown in the party’s March 2023 audited balance sheet.
