Kochi: The high court has banned bringing elephants from other states to Kerala. The interim order is in accordance with the rules relating to the transfer of captured elephants.
The division bench temporarily stayed the petition filed by the animal protection organization.
The action is The High Court has temporarily stopped the Government and the Chief Wildlife Warden from granting permission for the transfer of elephants brought from other states.
The court observed that the condition of the elephants was deplorable. The court also pointed out that the number of elephants killed in the last six years is 154.
