Kamal Haasan (born 7 November 1954) is an Indian actor, dancer, film director, screenwriter, producer, playback singer, lyricist and politician who works primarily in Tamil cinema. He has also worked in Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Bengali films. His production company, Raaj Kamal Films International, has produced several of his films. Haasan’s contributions to film have been praised by his contemporaries across the Indian film industry, and he has been recognised as an influence for actors and filmmakers, not only in the in the Tamil film industry, but Indian film industry as a whole. Having been a part of the Indian film industry for years, actor Kamal Haasan has carved an undeniable niche for himself. Apart from acting, Haasan is also credited as a director, screenwriter, producer, lyricist in the industry and beyond it, he’s also a celebrated politician. A recipient of four National Film Awards and 19 Filmfare Awards, Haasan was also awarded the Kalaimamani award in 1984, the Padma Shri in 1990, and the Padma Bhushan in 2014. In 2016, Haasan was honoured with the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Chevalier). But while he has won numerous accolades in his career, the superstar is also known for his conviction to take on new and unconventional parts like no other. In the past, there have been many instances when his roles and choice of films created a stir on social media and turned into headlines. On February 21, 2018, Haasan formally launched his political party, Makkal Needhi Maiam.

On his 66th birthday, Kamal Haasan has a perfect return gift for fans. Actor-politician Kamal Haasan is all set to unveil the title teaser of his film with director Lokesh Kanagaraj on November 7. The film will be produced by Raaj Kamal Films International. In September this year, Kamal Haasan surprised fans by announcing that his 232nd film will be helmed by young filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj. He also announced that Anirudh Ravichander will compose music for it. In 2019 he became one of the few actors in India to have completed 60 years working in cinema.
