Malappuram: School building collapsed due to heavy rain. Vatikal PKTBM School’s run building was completely destroyed. A major disaster was avoided due to school holidays. Today is a holiday for all educational institutions including the professional college in the district.
Yesterday was also a holiday for educational institutions in Malappuram. The Collector also informed that the holiday is applicable to Anganwadis, Madrasahs and Tuition Centers. The Central Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of heavy rain in various districts till Friday. As heavy rain continues, 12 districts will have a holiday on Wednesday.
Today is a holiday for all educational institutions except Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam. Orange alert has been issued in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts and yellow alert in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur and Palakkad districts in view of heavy rain.
