The Thalassery Archdiocese has decided ‘The Kerala story’ will not be screened in churches to avoid division between religious groups

Kannur: There is no intention to create division between religious groups. Thalassery archdiocese has decided not to display the Kerala story in churches. The Archdiocese of Thalassery said that they are not interested in controversy during the elections and that they will not stand with the politics of those who made the film.

KCYM announced that The Kerala Story will be screened at Chempantotti Parish Hall this evening. It was also informed that the proposal that came from KCYM was not from archdiocese.

The controversy became an election issue when Doordarshan decided to re-screen the much-controversial Kerala Story movie. Idukki Diocese screened the film at a time when both LDF and UDF were rejecting Doordarshan. Soon after, it was announced that the Diocese of Thalassery and Thamaraseri will also screen the film.

Later, the Chief Minister reminded the Congress leadership that the RSS agenda is not only aimed at Muslims. The Archdiocese of Thalassery said that they are not interested in controversy during the elections and that they will not stand with the politics of those who made the film.
