Kasaragod: A thief entered the district court complex in Kasaragod. The thief broke the lock of the record room where the records are kept and ran away when the security personnel arrived. Court officials check for missing documents. The thief entered the court building on Sunday morning. He got inside by breaking the lock of the grill with a wire rod in his hand. It is also suspected that he walked the entire court verandah.
CCTV footage has also emerged of a thief standing outside the chamber of the District Judge on the first floor of the court, holding a Iron rod. Footage also shows a masked individual walking through the entrance gate and running away.
Based on a complaint from court authorities, on Sunday morning, a team of police led by SI V Ramakrishnan arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation. A case has been registered and an investigation has begun. On Monday morning, court staff noticed that the lock on the door of the record room of the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on the lower floor had been broken. The grill outside the room was not tampered with, but the inner door had been opened.
The theft was discovered by a female staff member who arrived for her morning shift. She immediately informed the higher authorities and a police complaint was filed. Preliminary investigation suggests that no records have been lost. A dog squad and fingerprint experts arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation.
