The Karnataka High Court has directed to resume the search for Arjun, the lorry driver who went missing in a landslide in Shirur. Rejecting the government’s contention that the search was stopped due to bad weather, the High Court ordered the resumption of the search. The order was given by the bench chaired by the Chief Justice.
The Karnataka government has informed the High Court that the search has not been completely ended and the search has only been temporarily suspended due to bad weather. Despite the court order, the Karnataka government has not yet clarified its position on when the search will resume.
Uttara Kannada District Collector informed Arjun’s family that Kerala has not yet made a decision on bringing the dredger from Thrissur. Arjun’s sister’s husband Jithin came to the collectorate and inquired about this.
The Agriculture Department team from Kerala visited Shirur and informed the government that it would not be possible to land a dredger in the river. The team said that they could not land the dredger because of the low current and water level in the Gangavali River.
