Thrissur: State government to take action on complaints related to Thrissur Pooram. Thrissur Police Commissioner Ankit Ashok will be transferred. Transfer after obtaining the permission of the Election Commission. Assistant Commissioner Sudarshan has also been directed to be transferred.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan directed the state police chief to investigate in detail the complaints raised by the police regarding the Thrissur Pooram. It has been asked to investigate and submit a report within a week. Sources related to the Home Department informed that further action will be taken as soon as the report is received. But before that, the controversy has been brought to an end by taking action against the commissioner.

After midnight on Friday, the Devaswom had decided to hold only the Pooram ceremony when the road was blocked to hinder the procession and arrival of the Thiruvambadi section. The tough decision was taken after complaining against the attitude of the police to no avail.

The move led by Police Commissioner Ankit Ashok to exclude most of the staff and committee members from the firing site also caused controversy. The action came after the footage of commissioner Ankit Ashok blocking the patta brought to give to the elephants for the Puram and the umbrella brought for the umbrella exchange came to light.
