Tripunithura firecracker blast case, main accused surrender

Thrissur: The main accused in the Thripunithura firecracker blast case, the officials of Vadakkumbhagam Karayog have surrendered at the police station. The accused, who have been charged with murder, will be produced in the court at 4 pm. .

On February 12, around 11 o’clock in the day, there was an explosion in the building where Churakad firecrackers were stored near Puthykav temple in Tripunithura. In addition to the loss of two lives, the local residents suffered a loss of crores due to the explosion. Sajeev Kumar, Sathyan, Rajesh and Rajeev, who are in charge of Vadakkumbhaga Karayogam, reached the Tripunithura Hilpalas police station and surrendered.

The explosion occurred when firecrackers brought for Puthikav temple festival caught fire. The firecrackers brought from Palakkad were being unloaded from the tempo traveler and were being moved to a nearby concrete building when the explosion occurred.

There are two groups of firecrackers here. After the explosion, the officers of the South Kariyag were taken into custody and arrested after they were found to have set off firecrackers without permission the day before. Apart from them, the police had registered a case against many others.
