Two Fire and Rescue Officials Suspended for Consuming Alcohol During Sabarimala Duty

Two fire and rescue personnel have been suspended for consuming alcohol while on duty at Sabarimala. The suspended officials are Subeesh S. from the Changanassery Fire Station and Binu P from the Gandhinagar Station. The incident occurred on December 28, when both were found drinking at Pamba while on duty.

According to the suspension order, the act of drinking during fire force duty, which requires officials to be on alert 24/7, constitutes a serious violation of regulations.

The officials, assigned to Pamba Point for ensuring the safety of Sabarimala pilgrims, were caught consuming alcohol inside a car near the KSEB charging station at Pamba around 10:45 p.m. on December 28. They were subsequently taken into custody and arrested by the Pamba Sub-Inspector.

The suspension order issued by the Director General of Fire Force noted that their actions amounted to gross misconduct and violation of service rules. As part of disciplinary action, they were removed from duty and placed under suspension.
