Thiruvananthapuram: The Vigilance Department has questioned ADGP M.R.Ajith Kumar regarding allegations of illegal wealth accumulation. Ajith Kumar has handed over documents related to the construction of a luxury house and other assets to the Vigilance team. The report is expected to be submitted within two weeks.
The allegations against the ADGP include acquiring assets in the names of relatives, a high-value land deal in Kawdiar, and accepting bribes to influence cases. The questioning was led by Vigilance SP K.L. Johnikutty and DySP Shibu Pappachan. The investigation was initiated based on a complaint filed by P.V. Anwar.
Earlier, Ajith Kumar had alleged external forces were backing P.V. Anwar, an MLA, in his complaint. He made these remarks during a statement given to the DGP.
The state government ordered the Vigilance inquiry in September, following rising allegations of illegal wealth accumulation. These allegations emerged amid a controversy surrounding Ajith Kumar’s reported meeting with RSS leaders, which had already sparked criticism and protests.
