Wayanad Landslide Tragedy: Three More Victims Identified Through DNA Testing

Wayanad: Three additional victims of the devastating landslide in Wayanad have been identified through DNA testing of recovered body parts. The identified individuals are Fathima and Nusrat Bansh, residents of Mundakkai, and Pathumma from Chooralmala. The remains were discovered in the Nilambur Pothukallu region.

Despite four months passing since the Chooralmala-Mundakkai landslide disaster, over 40 individuals remain unaccounted for. A total of 47 people are still reported missing, but active search operations have ceased. Earlier, family members of the missing had appealed to the Chief Secretary to resume searches in areas like Suchippara and Anadikapp, where some remains were previously found.

In response, a limited search was conducted, leading to the discovery of five body parts. However, authorities did not continue the search efforts. Opposition parties in Wayanad have intensified their demand to restart the search for those still missing in the disaster.
