WCC Urges for Privacy of Actresses Who Testified Before Hema Committee to be Ensured

Members of the WCC (WCC) met Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan during the deliberations on the Hema Committee report. Hema announced the follow-up on the committee report and the position on the film policy. Rima Kallingal, Revathi, Didi Damodaran and Beena Paul met the Chief Minister. The meeting was held at the Chief Minister’s office.

Further action on the Hema Committee report was discussed in the meeting. The members informed the Chief Minister about the WCC stand on the film policy. The WCC also informed the Chief Minister that the privacy of those who had given statements before the Hema Committee should be ensured, that there should be no violation of privacy in the name of SIT investigation, facilities should be ensured for women at the location, and the recommendations of the Hema Committee should be implemented.

Rima Kallingal responded after the meeting that the goal is to solve the problem and what can be done together with the government. Anjali Menon, Padmapriya Geethu Mohandas and others were tasked by the WCC to study the Hema Committee report. They submitted the proposals formulated by them to the government. It was on the demand of the WCC that the government appointed the Justice Hema Committee to study the problems of women in the film industry.
