₹5 Lakh Compensation and Job Assurance for Radha’s Family Announced by Minister O. R. Kelu

Mananthavady: Radha, a woman working in the Priyadarshini Estate near Pancharakolli, was attacked and killed by a tiger while harvesting coffee. Her body was discovered with severe injuries, including bites on her head, neck, and back.

Minister O. R. Kelu announced a compensation package of ₹11 lakh for Radha’s family, with ₹5 lakh to be handed over immediately. He also assured that one family member would be offered a government job.

The minister further stated that discussions with relevant authorities are underway to ensure safety measures, including deploying an RRT (Rapid Response Team) and expediting fencing operations. Plans are being made to capture the tiger using traps or, if necessary, to eliminate it.

Meanwhile, the Forest Department has initiated actions to deal with the man-eating tiger. Forest Minister A.K. Saseendran confirmed that the Chief Wildlife Warden would issue an order to shoot the tiger if required. He emphasized that the government would provide maximum support, including financial aid, to Radha’s family.
