100 more AYUSH healthcare institutions in the state receive NABH accreditation

Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister Veena George announced that 100 more AYUSH healthcare institutions in the state have received the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) certification. This includes 61 Ayurveda dispensaries and one Siddha dispensary under the Department of Indian Systems of Medicine, along with 38 dispensaries under the Homeopathy Department.

In the first phase, 150 government AYUSH institutions had already received this accreditation. With the latest additions, a total of 250 AYUSH institutions in the state now hold NABH accreditation.

Obtaining NABH accreditation ensures high-quality AYUSH healthcare services and is expected to boost the state’s health tourism sector. The certification serves as a public recognition of healthcare institutions meeting various quality standards, including infrastructure development, patient-friendliness, patient safety, medicine quality, and infection control measures.

The government is continuing efforts to bring all AYUSH wellness centers under NABH certification in a phased manner with the support of the National AYUSH Mission. In the next phase, 250 primary institutions and six AYUSH hospitals have been identified for accreditation, and related initiatives are underway.
