Kollam: The High Court granted bail to Anupama Padman, the third accused in the case of abducting a six-year-old girl in Kollam Oyur. Bail is granted with conditions.
Anupama’s argument was that bail should be granted for the purpose of studies. The court rejected the bail plea filed by Anupama in the 1st Additional Sessions Court of Kollam with the same demand. On that day, the court rejected the bail application by accepting the prosecution argument that there is a possibility of influencing and intimidating the witnesses if bail is granted.
The kidnapping in Oyor was a well-planned crime committed by an entire family to escape financial crisis. The gang would abduct the child in a car and leave the child in the grounds of the Kollam ashram a day later.
After a year long planning and a month and a half investigation, they kidnapped the baby from Oyur. Anupama was staying with her mother Anithakumari in the Attakulangara Women’s Jail. Father Padmakumar is in Poojappura Central Jail. The investigation team submitted the charge sheet in the case.
The accused were caught after a botched investigation by the police. The accused committed the crime to overcome the financial burden. Padmakumar, his wife Anithakumari and daughter Anupama are the main accused in the case.
