Accused died in Palakkad Excise office lockup incident, suspension of two excise officers

Palakkad: The accused hanged himself inside the lock-up of Palakkad Excise Office. Suspension of two excise officers. Shojo John, a native of Idukki, who was arrested the other day in the case of smuggling two kilos of hashish oil, died.

The suspension of the two officials on duty is on the instructions of Palakkad Deputy Excise Commissioner. The action against both of them is alleging that they showed negligence in work.

Meanwhile, the District Crime Branch has started an investigation into Shojo John’s death. The investigation was started under the leadership of Crime Branch DySP. Shojo, the accused in the drug case, was found to have committed suicide in the lock-up of the Excise Range office this morning.

Shojo’s wife Jyoti alleges that he was killed by excise officials. They also said that they do not think that the person who confessed to the crime committed suicide. Officials claim that there was no one in the office at the time of suicide
