Attukal Pongala declared a local holiday in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: A local holiday has been declared in Thiruvananthapuram city limits in connection with the Pongala festival at the Attukal Bhagavathy Temple. A local holiday has been declared for institutions including banks on March 13.

Attukal Pongala Festival

The Pongala festival at the Attukal Bhagavathi temple will be held from March 5 to 14. The Pongala will be held on March 13. The fire will be lit in the Pongala hearth at 10.15 am on the 13th. The Pongala will be offered at 1.15 pm. On the first festival day, March 5, the Kappuketti Kudiyiruth will be held and on the 7th, the Kuthiyotta fast will begin. On the seventh festival day, March 11, the Devi darshan will be available only from 7.30 am. On the 13th, the Kuthiyotta children will be given a cane ceremony at 7.45 pm. The Devi will be brought out at 11.15 pm. On the 14th, the Kappuketti Kudiyiruth ceremony will be held at 10 pm and Kuruti Tharpanam will be held at one o’clock.
