Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal has allocated ₹3,061 crore for roads and bridges in the 2025-26 state budget. The announcement was made during the presentation of the final full-fledged budget of the second Pinarayi Vijayan government. The Life Mission project has been allocated ₹1,160 crore, while ₹50 crore has been earmarked for a health tourism initiative.
The budget also includes plans for establishing an IT park in Kollam, ensuring land availability for investors. Special emphasis was given to Vizhinjam, highlighting its strategic importance. The minister reaffirmed the state’s commitment to bringing a high-speed rail corridor to Kerala and mentioned ongoing efforts to secure central assistance for constructing a shipyard in South Kerala.
Additionally, the finance minister stated that the Thiruvananthapuram Metro Rail project would be realized and that further developments in Kochi Metro operations were in the pipeline.
